The Local Business Email Gap: 53.3% of US dental practices and law firms Have No Public Email

June 29, 2026 · 4,066 listings · 33US metros & states

Most US local businesses are easy to phone and hard to email. We analyzed 4,066 verified Google Maps business listings across 33 US metros and states (dental practices and law firms) and found that 53.3% publish no email address anywhere Google surfaces — despite 93.4% having a website and 98.6% listing a phone number. The contact channel B2B sellers most want is the one most often missing.

What we measured

We aggregated 4,066 business listings (3,291 unique domains) pulled from public Google Maps data across 33 US metros and states, covering dental practices and law firms. For each listing we recorded whether a website, phone number, and email address were publicly available, plus the Google rating. No private or login-walled data is used. This is a snapshot of one moment in 2026; the sample skews toward businesses prominent enough to appear in metro-level searches, so the true "no email" share across all long-tail businesses is likely higher, not lower.

Why the email gap matters

Phone numbers are nearly universal (98.6%), but email — the channel most B2B outreach actually runs on — is missing for 53.3% of these businesses. Strikingly, 50% of the businesses that DO have a website still don't list an email on Google: the address exists, it's just not where buyers look. Anyone building a prospect list from Maps data alone is leaving roughly half their contacts unreachable by email.

How to close the gap

The missing emails usually aren't truly missing — they sit on the business's own website (a contact page, a mailto link, a footer). Pulling them requires crawling each site, which is exactly what LeadGrid does: it enriches Maps listings with website-sourced emails so the list you export isn't half-dead on arrival. You can see the data for any trade and city before paying.
